Design District Hong Kong – Wan Chai

project detail
Design District Hong Kong – Wan Chai
Design District Hong Kong (#ddHK) is a 3-year Creative Tourism Project with the aim to establish Wan Chai and Sham Shui Po as Design Districts of Hong Kong — the creative neighbourhoods that presents authentic experiences to tourists and locals, blending Hong Kong’s rich history, authentic local cultures and communities through a series of creative placemaking in public space.
Our vision is to curate an “open-air design district gallery” in Wan Chai, where design art work and related interactive activities can be found across the district during the 3-year period. These works will appear at various locations and change periodically. They are the epitome of community collaborations, social conversations and participatory design co-creation. These original multidisciplinary designs, traditional craftworks and local street events link up and elevating tourist attractions and landmarks in these two neighbourhoods, which also enrich the experience of locals and tourists and to explore the city from a completely new perspective.
We invite you to join the journey to rediscover boundless creativity of Hong Kong, to take a closer look at local culture, arts, design & architecture, and the stories behind each of these areas. #ddHK is presented by Tourism Commission, organised by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) and with Hong Kong Comics & Animation Federation (HKCAF) as Strategic Partner of its 2nd-year programmes related to local comics.
