Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival

Yim Tin Tsai, Sai Kung has a history of nearly three centuries, showcasing the peaceful co-existence of Roman Catholicism and Hakka culture, and the valuable natural ecology and heritage on the island that are well-preserved. The conservation of St. Joseph's Chapel and the revitalisation of the saltpans have won "Award of Merit" and "Award of Distinction" presented by the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2005 and 2015 respectively, affirming Yim Tin Tsai's cultural value and characteristics.

Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival, the three-year pilot scheme organised by the Tourism Commission, brings to local and non-local visitors new travel experience integrating arts, religion, culture, heritage and green elements. Local artists and youngsters are invited to co-create with the villagers to turn the island into an open museum.

Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival 2019 was held from 30 November to 29 December 2019. A number of artworks created by local artists and youngsters were displayed at Yim Tin Tsai, with a series of interactive activities organised to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the artistic atmosphere of Yim Tin Tsai and understand its history and culture. While Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival 2019 has come to a fruitful end, some of the artworks are retained on the island for visitors' appreciation.

The Tourism Commission is now planning for the launching of Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival 2020 and 2021. Details will be announced in due course.
