6 The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is a striking landmark of the Wanchai waterfront. Its establishment in 1984 marked a significant milestone in the cultural life of Hong Kong. A unique tertiary institution of its kind in South East Asia, the Academy offers professional training up to degree level in Chinese Traditional Theatre, Dance, Drama, Music, Theatre Technical, Film and Television Arts.
The Academy building, designed by a Hong Kong based architectural firm, is considered to be amongst the best in the world for its design and equipment. It contains a complex of sophisticated venues, specially built for a variety of productions and audience sizes. Over 300 public performances are given throughout the year to the public.
