Located at Number 1 Connaught Road Central, AIA Central is situated in the central business district of Hong Kong, commanding spectacular views over Victoria Harbour. The building's distinctive outline unites its harbour setting and its cultural environment. Inspired by the traditional Chinese junks that criss-crossed the harbour for centuries, three facades curve outwards like billowing sails. At night, an innovative lighting system gently illuminates the entire building to resemble a lantern, while the eastern struts are equipped with animated lighting to celebrate the city's night vista.

At the top of AIA Central is one of the most powerful LED video displays in Asia, with high-resolution video capacities utilising over 281 trillion RGB colours and advanced graphics processing.

The building was developed by Bayshore Development Group Limited, a consortium formed by affiliates of AIA International Limited and Lai Sun Development Company Limited. The building has achieved an excellent rating in accordance with the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method for New Office Designs in 2005 and "LEED Silver Certification for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance" in 2012.
