Hong
Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, situated
on the Wanchai waterfront, was first opened
in 1988 and has been Asia's finest purpose-built
convention and exhibition venue. The Hong
Kong Trade Development Council expanded
the complex with a magnificent extension
to more than 63,000 square metres. Opened
in 1997, the expanded venue was chosen for
the handover ceremony in 1997, and it has
become an instant landmark for the 21st
century Hong Kong.
Being one of the world's largest curved
roof structures, Hong Kong Convention and
Exhibition Centre's distinguished flowing
architectural lines make it a splendid counterpoint
to the vertical cityscape of Wanchai.
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre's
Grand Hall, with a capacity for 3,000 guests,
is one of the largest venues for banquet
style dinners in the world. The Centre hosts
more than 2,000 events a year, and has staged
many of the world's most prestigious international
meetings and other major cultural and entertainment
events.
